"The Party Dress"
Full review here: [link]
I'll summarise it here.
Made with New Year's Eve in mind, pretty much for fun, though it may be useful for some future interviews! It was made to be worn to any formalish occasion or cocktail party. Excuse my mirror photo-taking skills and messy room, but my mannequin's not at home, and I needed to show the dress in context.
Strapless, fitted, bubble hem dress with boning and pleated bodice detail. Invisible zipper at back, and fully lined. I'm so happy with my lining skills - no raw seams showing at all! I probably need more practice in hand sewing, but it's on the inside...
Pattern: McCalls 5382, a hybrid of views B and C.
Fabric: Stretch cotton jacquard, fairly heavy. Lined with poly charmeuse satin.
Time: perhaps 10 hours in total, not including cutting, of which 3 hours was hand-sewing the lining on.
Cost: The main fabric was a $5.00 remnant, and the lining cost nearly three times as much! But whole dress was under $20.00, which is a steal if you ask me
