Purple Reign, nearly there.

Hemmed the bottom of the PURPLE REIGN skirt today with hemming tape, as it looks a lot better than my sewing! Propped the whole thing on my office chair now, the hem hangs so nicely after some ironing!

I've still got to lengthen the skirt by 30cm to cover the hoopskirt I'm wearing, so I'm putting a purple ruffle (with a black ruffle half the length over it) on the bottom to try and mimic my original design. Damn me cutting it too short after I first attempted making the skirt over a year ago.

Had a brainwave this morning that I could make the ruffle on the bottom removable, as I really like the skirt at the current length, and will probably be wearing it without the hoopskirt if I wear this dress again. It will enable me to ditch the hoopskirt if it gets too heavy as the night progresses, but I think I'll be fine.

So, I figure I'm going to use hook-and-eye tape to attach the ruffle, and I'll be gathering the ruffles straight to the hook side of the tape, then attaching the eye side of the tape to the bottom of the skirt. Hopefully I can get that done tomorrow, and then I don't have to worry anymore this week!
